Dale Deeds

Dale was born and raised in Milwaukee. Inspired by his parents whom were very involved in music, he actually started his music background playing guitar, learning from local guitarists such as Dick Elliott and Don Momblow. He continued playing guitar while directing his church youth choir and campfire sing-alongs with family and friends.

Realizing there was no big demand for guitarists in the public school bands, he decided, with some coaxing from his teacher, to start playing the trombone in junior high school. He continued on thru Pulaski High School, playing baritone horn in the marching band and trombone in the jazz band, all under the direction of Ron DeVillers. His training developed from Saturday lessons and performing with the Milwaukee Conservatory of Music Jazz Band. In the early 70's, after graduation from high school, he started full time employment with the Allen-Bradley Company, where he was selected to play bass trombone with the Allen-Bradley Orchestra and Chorus performing with fellow trombonist Herb Draeger. During that time, he was also fortunate to have some private lessons with bass trombonist Richard Kimball from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Other than the Allen-Bradley Orchestra, Dale also performed with (and was the youngest player) the Zig Millonzi big band in the late 70's. He has also performed with the Cudworth American Legion band, the Steve Swedish Orchestra, the Tripoli Shrine Dance Band, the Air Command Orchestra, the Airmen of Swing, Big Swing Face, the Bill Sargent Band, the Ron DeVillers Band, the Todd Konrad Orchestra and Trini Lopez at the Crown Room. On Tuesday nights he performs regularly with Chuck Barnes in Racine with the John Bunic rehearsal band at McAuliffe's Pub.

Dale has been with the pretty much from the beginning. He originally started as a substitute but as time went on, he found himself playing with the band more than not and now he plays regularly.

Dale has appeared on two recordings, one with the Airmen of Swing and the other is the Christmas CD. His playing style as been influenced by Herb Draeger, George Roberts, Urbie Green and Bill Watrous.
